Buddy

It was love at first sight, really.

Several weeks ago I was driving down our dirt road and noticed this handsome fellow. Actually, I thought he was cute. Even adorable ... as I later told my husband. I asked him what kind of "cow" he thought it might be as I related that it was white-ish and had curly hair. He knew what group of cattle I was talking about and the first thing he informed me was that it was likely not a cow... but rather a bull. OK, so we're talking boy-cow here (which, for the record, there is no such thing- since a cow is specifically referring to an adult female bovine that has had a calf).

"Anyways" , I said, "He's CUTE! Is that ok? Can I call a boy-cow cute???"

"Call him whatever you want, but remember he's a bull and he's probably not safe.
So don't go trying to pet him or anything."

Oh, and he also guessed my new admir-ee to be a Charolais.

So I've admired from a distance whenever I drive by.

But today I had my camera in tow.

I pulled off to the side of the road and started clicking away.

He must have thought I was going to do something to his advantage
because he got up and took a few steps in my direction.

"Man, he's cute!", I thought... searching the ground for any treats I could give him.
I wondered if he would come eat out of my hand.
I remembered there was an ear of corn in the door of my Suburban
(we're farmers, this is normal).
I approached the fence (single line of electric wire) with the ear of corn and held it out to him. "Here, cute bully-bull ~ come get some corn! You know you want to!"

He did not come. I tossed it out for him and he took it.

I named him "Buddy".

ISN'T HE ADORABLE?!?!?

$867 later .......

We have visited the Dentist 4 times in the last month. Yesterday was hopefully the last time for a while!

The first visit was due to Kyler having pain in a filling. Turns out the filling had come loose and had to be re-done.

TWO days later- Kyler informs me that a different filling on the other side of his mouth fell out completely! That would constitute our second trip.

Third trip was actually a scheduled routine cleaning for all of us. At which time it was determined that we would need to come back for more fillings and a minor procedure for Kyler's gap.

Fourth trip was yesterday. Kristen had 2 fillings, Kyler had 1 filling and his "frenum" (sp?) clipped. He was pretty nervous about getting it done, but was a real trooper & didn't even shed a tear! It was not at all what I thought it was going to be. I had in my mind that he was going to clip the actual gum between Kyler's 2 front teeth. Rather, it was a stretch of skin that came down
from the lip that attaches to the gum. And furthermore, it may not even cause the gap to come together. Which is totally why I had it done in the first place! sigh.

So at some point in the near future I am going to visit this blog & do some reading up on gaps and frenum-clipping. I sure hope it was worth what I paid for it!

Of course it's probably nothing compared to what my in-laws spent on hubby's pearly whites - if only we all could have teeth this beautiful!!!

Family Fun Weekend Get-away

Every year (usually in January), our family takes a short (2 hour) trip for a little weekend get-away. Same town, same hotel (has awesome waterslides) & 2 years running now we've seen Monster Trucks. And we always eat at Red Lobster before we leave!

So here's some pictures from the weekend-
